We had the privilege of visiting Auchterarder, Scotland to attempt to qualify for the British Senior Open Championship (the SOC) to be held at Gleneagles Golf Club, July 21-24. This prestigious tournament is part of the Champions Tour which features the best senior golfers in the world. I’ve watched these guys - Langer, Watson, Els, Mickelson, Duval, Harrington - for a long time and envied the opportunities they’ve had to play and advance the game.
My wife Hannah Paramore-Breen and I met in our early fifties when Hannah bought a Groupon for a 2-for-1 golf lesson with me. Her vice president of sales said golf would be a great way to grow her marketing business, Paramore Digital. Three years later, I asked her on a date, and shortly after, we got married. Why did I wait so long to ask her out? Hannah will tell you I wanted to get her handicap down before being seen with her.
Bill Breen was already a three-time winner before the 13th annual Tennessee State Open week. Only one other person, Gibby Gilbert, could claim that. Nobody had won this tournament 4 times - until this year.
The first week of January 2022 Bill was scheduled to compete in two tournaments of the PGA Winter Championship Series at PGA Village in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. These are some of our favorite tournaments of the year because the weather in Nashville, Tennessee is at its worst about the time these start.

Listen to a few comments from Bill Breen following his Tennessee Senior Open victory at Stonehenge Golf Club in Crossville yesterday. “It’s always fun to win. We don’t get to win as much as we’d like.”
The key to lowering your handicap is the short game because more than 75% of the shots you will hit on the course are within 100 yards of the hole. Through years of teaching I developed this short game skills test…
I’ve been focused on improving my golf game for a long time. Regular practice, playing, competing, working out, studying the sport, all that. But in 2020 I’m preparing for the next level through nutrition and training.
It was a beautiful day to play golf. On June 7, 2018 I teed off with Mike Parrish and Ralph Landrum in the regional qualifier for the U.S. Senior Open at Hillwood Country Club. Four years ago I’d done the same thing and ended the day as first alternate.
